International students from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chungbuk National University won the GKS Self-Financed Students Scholarship for 2 consecutive years.

International students from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chungbuk National University have obtained a scholarship due to their excellent academic performance.
The third-year students, Castillo Andrea (Venezuelan) and Le Thanh An (Vietnamese), were granted for the second year in a row (2020-2021) the GKS Self-Financed Students Scholarship (for foreigners) organized by the National Institute for International Education.
The scholarship students, Andrea and Thanh An, will receive monthly the amount of 500,000 won for the period of 10 months, starting from the present year March until December.
Jeong Jin-seop, head of the Office of International Services said, ''Congratulations to both students who were selected as GKS scholarship students for two consecutive years. This outstanding achievement is the result of their hard work and love for the Korean Language. From now on, I hope that you will continue to work hard in your studies with pride as a scholarship student.” Meanwhile, the GKS Self-financed Scholarship Program main purpose is to motivate financially self-supporting foreign students by subsidizing outstanding students and to raise awareness of the benefits of studying in Korea. In this year, a total of 250 remarkable students were selected for this scholarship program.

충북대(총장 깁수갑) 국어국문학과 유학생들이 우수한 성과를 얻었다.

국어국문학과 3학년에 재학 중인 안드레아(베네수엘라 국적), 레탄안(베트남 국적)씨가 지난 2020년에 이어 2021년에도 국립국제교육원에서 주관하는 GKS 외국인 우수 자비 장학 사업에 2년 연속 장학생으로 선정됐다.

GKS 외국인 우수 자비 장학생으로 선정된 안드레아, 레탄안씨는 2021년 3월부터 오는 12월까지 10개월간 매달 장학금 50만원씩 받는다.

정진섭 국제교류본부장은 “2년 연속 장학생으로 선정된 두 학생 모두 한국어에 대한 애정을 바탕으로 열심히 공부한 결과 우수한 성과를 거둔 것을 축하한다. 앞으로도 장학생으로서의 자부심을 갖고 학업에 더욱 힘써 주길 바란다”고 말했다.   

한편, GKS 외국인 우수 자비 장학 사업은 한국에서 유학하고 있는 외국인 학부 자비 유학생들에게 장학금을 지급해 성취동기를 부여하고 한국에 대한 긍정적 인식을 높임으로써 지속적 유학생 유치 기반을 구축하기 위해 국립국제교육원에서 주관하는 사업이다.

이번 장학 사업에는 올해 총 250명의 장학생을 선발했다.
